Despite the recent growth of the Mobile Web, mobile devices remain a poor environment for actually using websites. The small screen is one obvious problem, the restricted keyboard is another. Many websites are funded via banner advertisements, which reduce your useful screen space another 25%.

The most basic issue with the mobile web, though, is that the web is fundamentally not suited to the Mobile Lifestyle. Websites are useful for transmitting information. When you're sitting in a quiet office or at home, you can immerse yourself in the Web and interact with the information. But that's not what mobile devices are good for. Mobile devices are used when we're out in the real world, and their main value is in how they make it easier for us to interact with that world.
